What are the different levels of care offered at the Masonic Village at Sewickley?
Retirement Living - Residents live independently and do not require any assistance with daily living. They have access to amenities and services as desired.
Personal Care - Residents receive minimal assistance (up to one hour per day) with tasks of daily living, bathing, dressing, medication administration and appointment management.
Nursing Care - Residents receive moderate to maximum assistance with tasks of daily living (i.e. nursing home care) in the Sturgeon Health Care Center, with a memory support area available for those in need.

1. Who is eligible, and what are the criteria for admission to retirement living?
Applicants to retirement living must be 60 years of age or older. For married couples, one spouse needs to be age 60 and the other at least age 55. Applicants must maintain health, safety and financial requirements of tenancy.

2. Is there someone available to assist in answering my questions surrounding my personal financial situation?
Yes. Our staff is available to discuss your financial situation with you throughout the transition process.

3. What added financial security does Masonic Village offer to residents?
Masonic Village provides support to those individuals who may no longer be able to afford their services at some point in the future for reasons beyond their control. We require you to maintain your eligibility for Medicaid and other thirdparty reimbursements to help cover the cost of your services.

4. Will my monthly service fee increase in the future?
Typically, yes. In order to maintain our high quality services, we generally increase our fees annually; however, you would receive a 60-day notice of any such change.

5. How much time do I have to move from my current home to Masonic Village after I select my new home?
You will have three to four months, and Masonic Village has various resources which may assist you in the transition.

6. What happens to my monthly fee if I need personal care or nursing services?
Masonic Village is a type "A" Lifecare community which means your monthly fees continue at the same rate. This provides the ultimate protection of your assets in
a long-term care situation. There may be additional ancillary care and service charges, depending on your level of need.

7. If my spouse needs personal care or nursing services, may I move to a smaller residence?
Based upon availability, you may change locations at any time. In the case of one spouse moving to the personal care or nursing services area, the monthly service fee will remain as is for both. If you relocate for reasons unrelated to a move to the personal care or nursing services area, we will adjust the fee accordingly.

8. Will the transportation system take me off campus?
Yes. Due to our convenient location and easy accessibility to downtown Pittsburgh and Interstate 79, we consider scheduled trips part of local transportation. We also provide transportation services to medical appointments on a scheduled basis.

9. Do you offer garages for apartment residents?
Yes, for an additional fee.These garages are approximately 11 feet by 20 feet and come equipped with electronic door openers.

10. What if my busy schedule does not allow me to participate fully in the meal-a-day program?
We offer a variety of meal plans which allow you to participate in fewer meals and receive a monthly credit.

11. I want to increase my fitness activities. What does Masonic Village offer?
Masonic Village features a wellness center with a large indoor swimming pool and a comprehensive fitness center, including classes. Most importantly, professional staff members will work with you to develop an effective training program.

12. What is your pet policy?
Pets, up to two, are permitted. Contact us for specific guidelines based on your preferred living accommodation.

1. Do I need to have a minimum amount of assets for admission to the Star Points Building or Sturegon Health Care Center? If my funds deplete, will I need to leave Masonic Village?
No. There is no required amount of money necessary to enter the personal care and nursing service areas. Generous donations enable the Masonic Villages to provide services to eligible individuals, Masons and non-Masons alike, as part of our Mission of Love. We require you to maintain eligibility for Medicaid and other third-party reimbursements. We will help you to apply for all funds available for the services provided.

2. Is there a deposit, entrance or application fee for the personal care or nursing services areas?
No. We do not require a deposit, entrance or application fee.

3. If my assets have been depleted, will I receive money on a monthly basis?
In the Star Points Building and Sturgeon Health Care Center, you will receive a monthly allowance to take care of incidental expenses such as stamps, telephone bill, etc. The finance department provides a personal account where you can deposit these funds.

4. Does Masonic Village require a power of attorney and a living will for admission?
No; however, we encourage all residents to have a general durable power of attorney and a living will. It is important to appoint someone to make medical and financial decisions should you become unable to do so.

5. When do you advise I apply for Medical Assistance, and how is this done?
You should start the Medical Assistance application process when you have approximately $20,000 in total resources remaining. To initiate the application process, you, your power of attorney or responsible party can contact the Medical Assistance coordinator at (412) 741-1400, ext. 3000.
The Medical Assistance coordinator will forward you a packet, including an application. After completing the application, you should then schedule an appointment with the Medical Assistance coordinator to review the application and documentation, complete the applicable direct deposit forms, and review steps to process the application with the Allegheny County Assistance Office.
