4. If my funds deplete, will I be asked to leave the Star Points Building or Valley Care Masonic Center?
No. Fraternal support enables the Masonic Villages to service eligible individuals as part of our Mission of Love. As long as you maintain your eligibility for Medicaid and other third-party reimbursement, you will not be asked to leave based solely on your financial means. The Masonic Village will help you to apply for all funds available for the services provided.

5. When would the resident or responsible party be advised to apply for Medical Assistance (MA) and how is this done?
The Medical Assistance application process should start when a skilled nursing resident has approximately $20,000 in total resources remaining. At this time, the resident or responsible party would contact the Medical Assistance Coordinator at (412) 741-1400, ext. 3000, to initiate the application process for Medical Assistance.
The MA Coordinator will forward a packet to the resident's power of attorney or responsible party. The packet includes the Medical Assistance application, along with a checklist of documentation required to complete and/or accompany it. An appointment should be made with the MA Coordinator to review the completed application and documentation, answer questions, complete the applicable direct deposit forms and review steps that will be followed in processing the application with the Allegheny County Assistance Office.
