Volunteers' and Community Members' Memories
1. Jay E. Davis, Masonic Homes Class 1958
In August, 1951, my life became better, and I had 40+ new brothers and sisters. The Trimmer's (Russell & Viola) became my new parents, and mentors of my life.

I have been involved with Masonic Village since I was a baby. I practically grew up there! And I'm still involved today. My favorite memory is walking with all my preschool friends hand-in-hand and our teachers behind us as we walked through the tunnels between all of the buildings. I still enjoying walking through the tunnels today as I reminisce my childhood at Masonic Village.

His name was Verne. A stroke had robbed him of his voice and mobility. He sat next to the piano in the Health Care Center. As I played, "In the Garden" Verne grunted the tune. I said, "Verne! YOU'RE SINGING!" A beautiful smile filled his face as he nodded, "Yes!" My heart smiled too and I knew I was in the right place.
4. Sally Stromberg, daughter of late John & Thurley Stromberg, residents
Not sure which year, probably in the late 90s. Thurley Stromberg (my mother) organized a scooter parade for the 4th of July. They rode all over the campus but especaily in front of the Grand Lodge. Some dressed up for the occasion.
5. Daniel Satchell, son of a resident
My mom moved into BF2 on Dec. 30, 2009. On March 7, she got out of her wheelchair and walked without assistance! Thank you to the wonderful staff in the Health Care Center.
6. Amy Vuxta (Turner)
After reading some of the comments that others have posted, I realized the impact the Masonic Village has played in my life. Starting with all the stories of my dad growing up at the Children's Home about being raised by Mr. and Mrs. Trimmer. My own childhood memories include swimming at the ice cold Masonic Homes' pool, visiting my dad at work in the Grand Lodge Hall kitchen baking those delicious fruit bars that tasted so good, starting my first job after high school working at the Independent Living Community with Ray, Donna and Pat. My husband and I being married at the beautiful Carpenter Chapel, my two girls growing up and being so close to me at the wonderful Hildebrandt Child Care Center. Working at the Masonic Health Care Center, scheduling physican appointments for residents to the implementation of a new software system! I can't believe my oldest daughter who is now 13 is old enough to volunteer at the Health Care Center this summer! I personally have lots and lots of great memories at the Masonic Village and will continue to have many, many more!
7.Cathy Vallati, Daughter of Resident
There aren't enough lines to share all the memories I have from visiting Lafayette West. Each resident puts a smile on my face and sometimes a tear in my eye. They are all very speacial and I keep wanting to know more about them. Watching the staff, whether in the care of each resident's daily needs or sharing in social fun time, I have total love, appreciation and complete admiration of them all. Remember to thank the staff each day for our loved ones.
8. S. Sinclair, Volunteer
Resident, Anna Ebersole shared with me that as a child, her family would get in their horse and buggy to go to Elizabethtown. The road they took was what is now, Masonic Village.
9. Rita Hartzell, Grandaughter to Residents Albert & Cora Hartzell
My Grandparents moved into the residence around 1970 and spent several years there. We loved taking the ride from Philadelphia to Elizabethtown to visit with them.
