Masonic Village at Elizabethtown Welcomes First Residents to New Cottage Homes

As a result of continued demand, individuals age 60 and over have another new option for retirement living in Elizabethtown. On Oct. 12, the first wave of residents moved into Masonic Village's newest neighborhood of 38 cottages. Construction began on the cottages earlier this year, and 31 have been reserved.

To showcase these new homes, an open house will be held Nov. 11 and 12, from 1-3 p.m. for individuals interested in seeing the latest building design concepts as well as learning more about the options and amenities offered by Masonic Village (no reservations required).

The first phase of the project, which also includes site work for up to 100 cottages (to be built upon demand), cost an estimated $10.7 million. Homes in this first neighborhood will be located next to Masonic Village's 6 1/2-acre formal gardens, with its scenic walking paths, fountain and reflecting pond.

Each home includes two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a spacious sunroom with the option for a den, two-car garage and a select number with basements. Open floor plans provide between 1,488 and 1,966 sq. ft. of maintenance-free living space. All kitchens include granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and upgraded cabinets. Entrance fees will begin at $212,000.

Residents have access to on-campus amenities including six restaurants, scheduled bus transportation, varied recreational options and educational programming through Elizabethtown College. Monthly service fees include optional dining plans, housekeeping and maintenance services, and snow and trash removal, among other services. Home care and health care services are available if and when residents need them on a fee-for-service basis.

For those individuals who desire to ride the train for pleasure and/or commute to work, the Amtrak train station is conveniently located near the main entrance of the campus. These types of accommodations, as well as a variety of other services are available to the general public, age 60 and over. A Masonic affiliation is not required.
