Masonic Village Hosting Knights Templar Lecture

Lecturer David Lenker will present, "Knights Templar: Past, Present and Future," at the Masonic Village's Freemasons Cultural Center, in the Deike Auditorium, on Sunday, Oct. 30, at 3:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend free of charge.

At the dawn of modern life, the Knights Templar inaugurated practical and culturally- renewing initiatives in the fields of architecture, agriculture, banking, finance, medicine and community life. On Friday, Oct. 13, 1307, a jealous king impeded Templar initiatives and later condemned leading knights to burn at the stake. Lenker will cover how Templar sacrifice reveals a destiny of courage, and how the Templar impulse continues through all succeeding epochs of modern times.

Lenker has lectured at Emerson College, England, and Waldorf Schools in Boston; Buffalo; Washington, D.C.; Oregon; and Vermont. He holds a degree in Latin from Dickinson College, was a founding teacher of the Susquehanna Waldorf School and offers classes on the awareness of one's humanity. A forthcoming book on the Knights Templar includes Lenker's contribution, "Templar Courage Comes of Age."
