Eden Alternative Event at Lafayette Hill
Since the Masonic Village at Lafayette Hill moved to its current location in 1976, the building's tall white pillars have stood, unchanged, as a symbol of the building's strength and stability. In recent years, beyond those pillars, the Masonic Village has undergone extensive modifications and enhancements to strengthen the lives of people living and working there.
On Friday, March 19, from 11 a.m. to noon in the Whitemarsh Commons Living Room, residents and employees will celebrate their most recent accomplishment, and perhaps the village's most significant change - its registration as an Eden Alternative site. With this historical step, the Masonic Village makes a public commitment to creating a less institutionalized, more person-centered environment for residents and those who care for them.
During the celebration, dogs from Pals for Life will visit with the partygoers who will also participate in a sing-a-long after the unveiling of the Eden Alternative Tree. The ceremony will demonstrate how the Masonic Village's culture has changed during the process of becoming one of just 11 long term care communities in Pennsylvania to be recognized as a registered Eden Alternative site.
The Eden Alternative is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to remaking the experience of aging and disability across America and around the world. For information on the Eden Alternative, please visit its Web site at www.edenalt.org.
