Centenarians Party at Masonic Village
As the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown and the United States celebrate their birthdays, the Masonic Village is hosting a combined birthday party for eight centenarians who are residents of the community on Friday, July 9, from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Masonic Health Care Center Roosevelt Assembly Room.
These residents have seen automobiles overtake the road, poverty during the Depression, worldwide conflict - twice, struggles for equality, travel to space, the invention of the computer and much more. To celebrate their long and eventful lives, the guests of honor and their close family and friends will enjoy cake, ice cream, singing the residents' favorite songs from throughout the decades, presents and a Masonic Village historical photo montage at the birthday party. Joseph Murphy, chief executive officer, will attend and wish the residents a happy birthday.
The Masonic Village has been celebrating events in residents' lives since the first adult resident moved to the original Guest House on June 25, 1910. Since then, the Masonic Village has served more than 16,280 adult residents and 2,075 youth residents and expanded to become a continuing care retirement community, children's home and community service organization.
