Celebrate 100 Years of Service at Masonic Village at Elizabethtown's Flag Raising Ceremony

On May 25, 1910, more than 1,500 people gathered for Masonic Village's flag raising ceremony - the organization's first public event. Exactly 100 years later, the Masonic Village has a goal of gathering at least the same number of community members, residents and staff in the Veterans Grove at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, for a flag raising ceremony to celebrate the Masonic Village's history and commence its second century of service.

Chimes resounding from the Sell Chapel carillon will mark the beginning of the celebration. The Masonic Village Men's Chorus will perform, and Elizabethtown Mayor Chuck Mummert will sing the national anthem and make a proclamation. To represent the countless people who have had a hand in securing the Masonic Village's future, a multitude of staff, residents and community members will help raise a flag which flew over the Capitol of Pennsylvania.

Participants will stand during the program, just like the original ceremony, and are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs if they would prefer to be seated. Staff will be present to direct cars to park in the field diagonal from the Veterans Grove.
