Congregation of Sell Chapel

"Proclaiming God's Love through the Gospel of Christ to the Masonic Village and surrounding community"

The John S. Sell Memorial Chapel, a non-denominational church located on the campus, has a rich heritage of enhancing comfort and spiritual well-being which dates back to its first service on July 3, 1927. Both Masonic Village residents and community members can worship with and be members of the congregation.

Worship Services are held every Sunday at 8:15 a.m. and 10 a.m. in the Sell Chapel, with additional services in the Roosevelt Assembly Room of the Masonic Health Care Center at 2 p.m. on Sundays and Wednesdays. Residents may also watch broadcasts of the services from the comfort of their home through the Masonic Village's in-house television station.

The Congregation of Sell Chapel takes seriously its responsibility to lend a helping hand to individuals in need, and provides tens of thousands of dollars in donations to people and organizations each year. The Outreach Ministry of the John S. Sell Memorial Chapel responds to a variety of needs, including:

  • Individual response requests, which help families during times of crises.
  • County-wide programs to benefit homeless and abused women and aid family training.
  • Annual special funds which support ministries the congregation has chosen to aid.

In addition, residents and community members join together to worship at special holiday services and community-wide programs through the Elizabethtown Area Ministerium of Churches, which the Congregation of Sell Chapel has joined to help promote unity within the community. Members minister to others through various groups and committees including:
  • Choirs and numerous music ministries
  • Altar guild
  • Greeters and ushers
  • Visitation Committee, which greets every new resident
  • Bible studies
  • Prayer Circle
  • A group which provides prayer shawls to those who are sick
  • Bereavement Program
  • Floral Committee to deliver flowers to those who need encouragement
