Masonic Village Hospice Care

What is Hospice?

Hospice is a special way of caring for patients and their family unit at the end of their lives in the familiar surroundings of home. Hospice focuses on the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of patients and their loved ones. While providing assistance and meeting the needs of seriously ill patients and their families, hospice focuses on promoting comfort and self determination, enabling patients to participate in making decisions about care at the end of their lives.

Who Qualifies for Hospice Care?

Hospice is available for those patients with a limited life expectancy. Masonic Village Hospice works closely with the patient's primary physician. Once the physician authorizes care and the patient, family and physician agree that the focus should be placed on pain control and symptom management rather than aggressive curative care, hospice services can begin.
Available Services Include:

  • Hospice care provided by specially trained nurses in patients' homes throughout the Masonic Village campus.
  • A focus on the entire family unit.
  • Expertise in pain control and symptom management.
  • 24-hour phone support.
  • Visits as needed, no matter what time of day or night.
  • Medical Social Work services.
  • Personal care assistance by certified Home Health Aides.
  • Volunteer respite care for caregivers.
  • Spiritual support by inter-faith chaplains.
  • Bereavement support and counseling for residents' families and friends, staff and volunteers.

How are Hospice Services Paid For?

Hospice services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurance plans. There are certain eligibility requirements that need to be met before these plans will authorize care. Our staff will work with the patient's insurance company to coordinate benefits.
As a not-for profit organization, Masonic Village Hospice is committed to providing care regardless of a patient's financial circumstances.
